| Sujet: SEMA: Fuel Vapor Technology’s Alé Prototype Mer 2 Avr - 22:58 | |
| Lien: http://news.windingroad.com/auto-news/sema-fuel-vapor-technologys-ale-prototypeAs ever, there continued to be a conspicuous lack of “green”-focused technology at SEMA, with the vast majority of parts, concepts, and accessories focusing on other performance metrics and vehicle appearance. One notable exception to this was Pure Vapor Technologies’ Alé (pronounced: “alay”), an unusual trike whose company claims it gets 92 miles-per-gallon, yet is capable of 0-60 miles-per-hour in under five seconds and 1.7g’s on street tires. The front-drive trike from Canada can also reportedly clear the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds. Created by inventor George Parker, the Alé prototype seen here has been in development for 15 years, and reportedly utilizes a reworked European-market 1.5-liter turbocharged Honda engine, good for 160 horsepower. The heart of the engine is its proprietary fuel vapor system, which the company says “allows the engine to run on ‘fuel vapors rather than liquid fuel.’ So-equipped, the two-seat tandem Alé can run on a very frugal air/fuel ratio of over 20:1. With a ten gallon tank, FVT claims the car is good for a non-stop run from Vancouver, British Columbia to San Francisco, California. | |
